You may think than noise doesn't matter but a 3,000 RPM fan of that size will literally sound like a jet turbine. it's part of Noctua's industrial line for a reason. Completely unnecessary and any difference in temperature would be negligible given how well the NH-D15 performs with the stock fans. Since the NH-D15 is already one of the best
The Noctua NH-D15 is basically the best air cooler on the market. It is incredibly reliable and powerful. The Corsair H150is have some issues but I use one on an OCed 10900k (and a Corsair H115i on a 10900kf) and they are solid. If you don't want the RGB goodies, the NH-D15 is probably a better option for gaming use.
The NH-D15 is great as well. It is lower maintenance and the wearable parts are replaceable (but won't need to be replaced in a normal lifetime). Honestly, go for whichever you like better. Do be aware that both have physical dimensions that can conflict with some cases. The NH-D15 is 163 (if I recall) mm tall, and most cases are 165 - 170.
Noctua first teased this improved NH-D15 as long ago as Computex 2019, and it was originally planned for Q1 2020, so it is hard to understand the significant slippage. Admittedly, the NH-D15 is
I have the NH-D15S which is just a slightly modified NH-D15 mounted on a 6600k on an Asus Z170-A, so I'd say you're fine. However, if you do not plan to overclock, then it's definitely overkill, as is getting a Maximus VIII Hero and an overclockable CPU in the first place! You can get just as good performance with cheaper parts if you do not

It's a beast of a cooler. Probably the best air cooler you can buy. Bear in mind that the 7700k is a very hot running CPU, so don't expect to hit 5ghz without having a bit of silicon luck, or the good old Intel delid procedure. Without it, temps @ 5ghz have been known to go into the 90's, with with a big unit like the NH-D15.

Based on Noctua's Standardised Perfomance Rating (NSPR), the NH-U12A is a better cooler than the NH-D15s. Here is the link. If you add a 2nd fan on NH-D15S , it almost matches the performance of the NH-D15. Neither can cool the power hungry 13900k. uV1wkKy.
